Biography

Frans Hegge, 40, and Thijs van der Zanden, 25, both are Dutch citizens and graduated Cum Laude from the Design Academy, Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

Hegge ID industrial design studio was established in 1999 and operates currently with seven employees. We offer creative translations and solutions for our industrial partners and clients. The perspective of the client is the start-up for the design process.

We can offer our clients conceptual solutions (brainstorms, ideas, visualizations), design and styling (sketches, renderings, foam-models) and engineering (construction, Pro/engineer 3D modeling, follow-up, 1:1 prototypes). Besides that we have a great knowledge of materials, producers and suppliers that can be implemented in our design- and development processes.

Description

The passenger-cell of this car is placed on a platform containing the engine and wheels. The cell can move over the platform in any direction. If a sensor, placed in the platform, detects a possible crash, the passenger-cell is moved away from the expected impact area. This results in more (deformable) distance between impact and passengers, thus higher survival-chances. Depending on position, speed, and place of impact, the passenger-cell moves to the most optimal position to protect the occupants.
