DESIGN COMPETITION



A dozen senior CCS Transportation Design Dept. students entered the 19th Annual Michelin Challenge Design Competition at the Center for Creative Studies. This year's competition challenged students to create a vehicle design and a tire/wheel assembly they could realistically envision driving in 2017 with the theme, "Smaller. Safer. Better." Damien Michelin (L) and Bob Miron from Michelin North America present Rick Rogers, president, Center for Creative Studies (CCS), a $22,000 donation to the school's Carl Olsen Scholarship Fund that provides financial aid to CCS students based on need and merit.


Matt Green, 24, a CCS Transportation Design student from New Town, PA received 1st place trophies and $2,850 scholarship monies for his "A>R>V" Autonomous Rescue Vehicle concept and a wheel/tire assembly design in the 19th Annual Michelin Design Competition. Matt Green, 24, a CCS Transportation Design student from New Town, PA received two 1st place trophies and $2,850 scholarship monies for his "A>R>V" Autonomous Rescue Vehicle concept and a wheel/tire assembly design in the 19th Annual Michelin Design Competition. Green is pictured with Damien Michelin, Michelin North America. Green's work will join 29 other designs representing 20 different countries selected in the global Michelin Challenge Design competition at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Jan. 13-27, 2007.


Tyler Mars, 22, CCS Transportation Design student from Chili, NY receives a 2nd place trophy for wheel/tire assembly, a 3rd place for his motorcycle-inspired "E-Gear" concept and $2,100 in scholarship funds in the 19th Annual Michelin Design Competition. Mars is pictured with Damien Michelin and Jim Anderson from Michelin North America. Mars' work will join 29 other designs representing 20 different countries selected in the global Michelin Challenge Design competition at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Jan. 13-27, 2007.


Mahdi Chowdhury, 21, CCS Transportation Design student from Fayetteville, NC receives 2nd place and $1,100 in scholarship monies for his "Katana 2017" concept vehicle in the 19th Annual Michelin Challenge Design Competition. Chowdhury is pictured with Michelin North America's Jim Anderson (L) and Damien Michelin. Chowdhury's work will join 29 other designs representing 20 different countries selected in the global Michelin Challenge Design competition at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Jan. 13-27, 2007.


Jonathan Kyte, 33, CCS Transportation Design student from Youngstown, OH accepts a 3rd place trophy and $1,100 in scholarship monies for his 2-seat sports car concept in the 19th Annual Michelin Challenge Design Competition. Kyte's concept will join the 29 other designs representing 20 different countries selected in the global Michelin Challenge Design competition at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Jan. 13-27, 2007.
