Michelin Junior Challenge Design

Michelin Junior Challenge Design

The Michelin Challenge Design 2018 invites you to create the classic car of the future, one capable of winning the Hilton Head Concours in 2025.

The Michelin Junior Challenge Design program is derived from the international Michelin Challenge Design contest, a premier global transportation design contest that provides visionary minds to bring us a look into the future of mobility. The Michelin Junior Challenge Design provides a similar opportunity for young designers of the future in Beaufort County.

In partnership with the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d’Elegance Michelin is asking students at Beaufort County high schools to produce drawings and an explanation of the idea of what a classic car of the future could look like.

The deliverables are as follows:

  • One (1) 11” X 17” page (in landscape format) with illustrations of the car.  Include the name of the brand, and any specific features or technologies that you believe are important to describe it.  Design the page to make an appealing presentation.
  • One (1) 8.5” X 11” typed page describing your vehicle.  Specifically highlight its powertrain (electric, hybrid, etc.) and any innovations that you want the judges to know about (is it autonomous, etc)?  What innovations are you using to define its form?  How does it reflect your chosen brand? What attributes speak to the iconic look and feel of a classic, timeless automobile?  What do you want the judges to know about this vehicle, and why you should win?)
  • One (1) 8.5” X 11” typed page with biographies of individual, or team members.
