Movin’On Challenge Design for 2021

Q.	Why has the name changed from Michelin Challenge Design to Movin’On Challenge Design?
A.	Movin’On, the worlds’ premier gathering for sustainable mobility has made Challenge Design an official pillar of the Movin’On ecosystem. This has been done in recognition of the power of design and the creative mindset in focused on solving complex problems through a deep understanding of human needs and the future of sustainable mobility.

Q.	What is Movin’On Challenge Design?
A.	Movin’On Challenge Design is a global initiative to engage the global design community in support of evolving sustainable mobility solutions

Q.	How long has Movin’On Challenge Design held a global design competition?
A.	This will be the 21^st competition.

Q.	How many entries has Movin’On Challenge Design received in that time?
A.	Through its first 20 challenges, Michelin has received more than 14,500 entries from 134 countries.

Q.	Who is eligible?
A.	Anyone interested in future mobility is eligible to enter. Entries come from all over the world and include individuals and teams of transportation and mobility designers, including OEMs and suppliers, studios, design schools, students, teachers, artists, architects, engineers, and futurists. Q.	How are the annual themes chosen?
A.	The themes are chosen by the Movin’On Challenge Design steering team and jurors in consultation with Movin’On organizers.

Q.	What is the theme for the 2021 Movin’On Challenge Design?
A.	RESPECT, ending isolation and conquering the mobility divide. Age and disability can limit access to safe and affordable mobility for one of every four people in the world today, reducing joy and the ability to fully participate in, benefit from, and contribute to society. The 2021 Movin’On challenge to entrants is to design a future with truly inclusive access to mobility, a future that breaks down barriers and increases the personal well-being and respect for all people.

Q.	When will entries open?
A.	The 2021 Movin’On Challenge will be announced August 11, 2020. The opportunity to submit entries will begin November 1, 2020, and close on March 1, 2021.

Q.	How do I enter Michelin Challenge Design?
A.	Information is available on the Movin’On Challenge Design website at www.michelinchallengedesign.com and at www.movinonchallengedesign.com

Q.	What will jurors be looking for?
A.	Your design story should visually communicate how your entry addresses the theme of *RESPECT* and *ending isolation and the mobility divide* for those facing age and disability related barriers to sustainable mobility. Challenge Design jurors encourage entrants to have their entry tell a design story. Who are the people, or groups of people that your design will help? What are the barriers that they encounter trying to access mobility? What need or problem does your design address? What is your vision? How, through your design and innovative thinking, have you respected their needs and broken down a barrier or barriers?

Q.	Why is the Jury so important?
A.	Movin’On Challenge Design has become one of the most prestigious global design competitions thanks in part to its jury members, who are often the advanced design leaders for major mobility producers, now joined by experts from the global sustainable mobility community.

Q.	What are the prizes?
A.	The three winning entries and the recipients of Judges’ Awards are announced in a global communications release. Their entries are featured on the Movin’On Challenge Design site and related communications. One representative from each of the three winning entries winners is invited as a guest of the organizers to the Movin’On Summit, a premier global summit on sustainable mobility. Travel and registrations for Movin’On are provided by the organizers. The 2021 Summit will be held in Montreal, June 1-3, 2021. At Movin’On, the winning works are displayed, and the winners are invited to participate in the Summit. Their entries are recognized at a special Movin’On Challenge Design reception. The winners are also invited to participate in a review of their design portfolios by members of the jury and leading international designers or experts.

Q.	Will Movin’On provide financial support to entrants of Movin’On Challenge Design?
A.	No. Movin’On does not provide financial support to entries in Movin’On Challenge Design.
